In an ideal world, all church buildings would be open all the time...
St Nicolas' Church is open to all on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10 am and 12 noon. A team of volunteers provides a discreet welcome, but will not disturb you if you simply wish to have a look around.
On Saturday mornings, during Open Church, the Knit & Natter group gathers in the North Aisle to chat over a coffee and the click of knitting needles.
Many visitors take advantage of these opportunities to explore this ancient building or simply to sit quietly and soak up the atmosphere.
It is a church rich in history and has many beautiful features, not least the stained glass windows. It is also a warm, friendly place with a peaceful, prayerful atmosphere, ideally suited to quiet reflection.
Most importantly, it is your church. One of the principles which we try to live out at St Nicolas' is that everyone belongs. There are no outsiders or strangers here. This is a place in which to discover God's unconditional welcome for all.
